Saturday July 21
I must keep this blog alive in spite of my total lack of time due to wedding planning and work.
To start, it should be known that, as I type, my cat is on the floor licking tissue paper from gifts I received at last weekend’s bridal shower in CT.
Wedding: this party is going down in 42 days! Reply cards are coming in and the attendees seems very excited. There is so much to do and it is all so overwhelming. Even opening gifts is a challenge - guilt, thank you cards, home reorganization… It’s a lot.
Work: I’ve been working on the crew of The Walking Dead since the middle of May. I love my job. I love staying late, smelling like shit, constantly cleaning dirt from under my nails, black snot, dry frizzy hair, bruised legs, sun bleached arm hair… the people, the camaraderie, the opportunity and everything else except for the fucking chiggers. Those little bastards itch like mad.
The job has completely taken over my life. Shit, I’m not complaining but, this is a really great example of being careful what I wish for. I am fortunate to work on such a cool project with great people. Work is ideal. It is amazing to think about my professional turn around. All past blog posting complaining about work: the circle is complete, now to keep it rolling.
Arden’s Garden 2 day detox
My parents were in town over the weekend which means I ate horribly. I felt bloated and gross for 3 days straight! Last night I decided to try the Arden’s Garden 2 day detox to help me cleanse all the crap I have been eating out of my system.
So far I haven’t exactly been drinking the juice according to the directions. I am supposed to be drinking 12oz every hour. I had about 12oz at 10am but then went out to run errands. It is now 1:30 and I just finished my 2nd 12oz serving. I have been supplementing with filtered tap water so i am relatively full feeling. The juice, which is watered down grapefruit, orange and lemon, has a vomit-like after taste. It’s just so acidic.
My energy is…OK but my brain just turned off while writing this. I will now bullet point then rest of the stuff I want to document about this detox since I can no longer form sentences (this one took me about 10 minutes).
- tastes kinda meh
- fills you up
- satiated hunger
- makes me want to eat tacos
- i’m concerned about my upcoming headache due to caffeine withdrawal
- by the time the biggest loser finale comes on tonight I will be glad i am doing this - btw the episode I worked on aired last week. I wasn’t credited but I might show up on IMDB as miscellaneous crew…someday.
My first sorority party
I’m in Athens at the Boar’s Head (whore’s bed). Ben is playing in the band for a private sorority party. I never even went to a sorority party when I was in college!
Drunk people, yes! Wow, it’s so…graphic. There is a major difference between a college party in New England and a college party in the south - the dudes. No guy would even dare dance, or suggest he even felt the beat my tapping a foot, in New England. In the south girls and guys are coupled off dancing with each other. It’s so cute! But it’s also a little scary, as if their awkward sexual behavior is on display. So much spontaneous making out. The point i want to make here in this … college people want to get laid everywhere. In New England the guys seem to keep it a little more quiet that’s all, which is too bad - this seems fun!
I am obviously an elder here. I’ve been asked twice if I am an advisor :(. Apparently there are chaperones at events like this who make sure there is no under age drinking. Me? Hell no. Drink it up, sluts (men and women).
Oh oh oh!! I just watched and under age girl get kicked out!
Being under age really sucked in college. Poor teenagers. Most important, all the ‘of age’ people have a big 21 marked on their hands. I’m going to try and go get one.
General Update on Atlanta Acclimation
Since March 3rd I have experienced the following activities worth noting:
Interview at local film production company
Worked a one day shoot for a popular NBC television show with a small team out of LA
Worked on an Equifax commercial shoot
Worked on a promo shoot for VH1’s Single Ladies
Got my Georgia license - uggg
Got my Georgia license plate - took 5 minutes!
Finally got my bike out and rode portions of the Path to Stone Mountain
Fried my video card
Replaced my fried video card and power supply
So many things happening!
I have about a week off until a 40% chance of work. In the meantime I am trying to figure out details on wedding invitations with a freelance graphic designer friend. Tomorrow I am off to Sam Flax to look at paper - fun!
Now that I am officially licensed in GA I guess I can really say that I live here. No more Massachusetts or New York ties. It is such a relief to have my car transferred out of Mass but kind of sad that my NYC ties are cut. It’s ok, we are ‘building a life’ here. <- had to put that in quotes since it felt lame to type. A lame saying, not concept.
Yesterday was the first day of spring - the news will not shut up about the pollen. There is a lot of it floating around BUT that’s obvious. I guess its ok that pollen is the main story rather than murders and war. We love pollen!
Fun fact about Praxden #2
Praxden, located in what now is central Libya, is a small desert oasis known by scientists as the closest town to nearby volcanic fields to the east.
